SAUCES - TOMATO AND CREAM PEAS SAUCE

TOMATO AND CREAM PEAS SAUCE


Tomato and cream peas sauce



1 can tomato sauce (32 oz. )( crushed tomatoes for a ticker sauce)
1 can sweet peas ( 15 oz. ) ( may substitute with frozen peas )
       salt and pepper
1 cup chicken bouillon
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 stick unsalted butter
1 teaspoon sugar or sugar substitute
1 teaspoon dry basil or 5 leaves of fresh basil ( chopped )
1 tablespoon dry oregano
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1/2 pint heavy whipping cream



Melt butter over medium heat; add peas .garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper and cook for 5 minutes

Add tomato sauce, sugar and  bouillon and cook 10 minutes more.  Sprinkle oregano on top and mix well

Add 1/2 pint of heavy whipping cream or 1/2 package of cream cheese spread, mix and cook one more minute. ( if using cream cheese stir well to blend )

Simmer on low heat for 15 minutes

This sauce is good for pasta, rice or over baked chicken
